Description

Just doing the first oSaC assignment! I RPed Sharkheart with Paintedfeather already so I decided to just daw a part from the RP.

This is the RP I did with *o0BrokenSeaGlass0o

A light grey tom was strutting around the AspenClan camp. Every so often he would wink at a she-cat or give them one of his signature grins. His tail flicked back happily as he continued to show-off as was the norm for Sharkheart. 'This is the life, she-cats everywhere and no responsibilities what-so-ever,' he thought smugly before another she-cat caught his eye. Not wanting to leave any pretty cat out of the action he grinned at her and waited to see if she would do anything...
Paintedfeather glanced up from her work, rolling her aquamarine eyes at Sharkheart flirtatious action. ‘Typical Sharkheart.’ she thought as she grinned to herself. Turning her attention back to the large piles of mixed herbs, the dainty she-cat groaned, it was a pain sorting through the vast variety of plants used to heal the ill and injured. Twitching her long tail she bundled up the different herbs and disappeared inside her den. Stashing the herbs away she padded back out her gaze soft as she nodded to all the elders and kits. Strolling over to Sharkheart she lightly flicked his shoulder. “You silly, flirting with the medicine cat.” she purred light heartedly.
Sharkheart had shrugged his shoulders and continued on when the medicine cat hadn't reacted, but then he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned around. His ears flicked forward in surprise as he say Painterfeather and chuckled at her comment. "No cat is too busy or 'unavailable' to me," he said grinning, "Besides I don't want you to feel left out and all. Though I suppose I could stop flirting with you....but only if you wanted me too...and even then I couldn't guarantee anything..."
The medicine cat twitched her whiskers at the flirty tom, “That is a sweet thought, but when I became a medicine cat I understood my duties and I swore to oath, but an occasional flirt never harmed anyone!” her voice was calm and understanding, yet inside she was lying to herself, she know for a fact she yearned for a mate and kits but such a thing is unspeakable for a she-cat of her duty. “Don’t you have any duties? Like hunting or something? If not I need someone to assist me with looking for herbs, it’s winter and I’m running low on thyme.” she meowed with a swift twitch of her tail towards the exit of the camp.
With a grin Shrakheart nodded, "Well then, I'll make sure to keep you on my list of she-cats...because even a medicine cat needs a break every now and then," he said. When she mentioned collecting herbs a grimace grew on his face, he hated herbs....but collecting them with a pretty she-cat sure beat hunting alone...."Wait up, I'll keep you company while you work....there are plenty of hunting patrol out right now anyway." He called out after her and trotted after her, giving a quick smile to another she-cat as he left the camp.
Paintedfeather stuck out her tongue, “It isn’t as bad as you think, it’s like hunting, but you aren’t chasing something.” She said, catching sight of his grimace. Padding out of the Aspenclan camp she picked up her pace until she darted into the snow covered forest, leaving the warrior behind. As the medicine cat ran her paws skimmed the freezing blanket of snow that covered the ground. A cloud of chilled air puffed out of her nose as her lithe body pushed her to run faster. “Catch me if you can!” she called behind her, but her voice seemed to get stolen by the wind and carried away.
Rolling his eyes at her comment he just shook his head and laughed a bit. When he looked up again the medicine cat was running. His ears flicked back competitively, pushing off of the ground he bolted after her, occasionally slipping on some ice, but he always managed to catch his footing before he fell. "You don't stand a chance again a warrior! I'm trained in running!" he called in a half teasing, half serious tone as he ran faster, slowly catching up to the quick she-cat.
“I may sit around a lot but I was built to run!” She called to Sharkheart before her long tail caught on her back paw and sent her tumbling down a snow covered slope. When she finally skidded to a halt she was laughing her white bangs a mess and her pelt covered in snow. “I take that back, I may be built for running, but my tail is built for tripping!” Licking the spot of dirt off her tail she stood up and shook herself off. “On the bright side we’re here.” motioning her head over to a small cave; inside a small green mass was growing out of the fertile and not yet frozen ground around it a strong aroma.
Sharkheart was about to call back a witty remark when she tripped and fell. Leaning back he slid to a stop, laughing as he did so. "Nice landing, good thing there is snow all around, or else that might have hurt." His smile faded when he smelled the herbs and he quickly scrunched up his nose. "Yay....we are here..." he said sarcastically but laughed some more, glad to have gotten out of camp for a bit. Sure it was nice to flirt with all the she-cats there, but every once and a while it was nice just to get out and enjoy the weather....even if it was quite cold at the moment.
Trotting over Paintedfeather picked a few of the delicate leaves and walked back over to Sharkheart, “If these weren’t so scarce I’d make you roll in it till you loved the smell of it!” she joked, her words muffled because of the precious herbs held between her teeth. Glancing into the forest she tried to think of any other herb that she may need, realizing there wasn’t anything else she turned to Sharkheart, “Well, that was really I needed to I guess you didn’t have to come along, but I’m glad you did! I needed the company.” her words were followed by a smile.
Sharkheart sat down on the snow and waited outside of the cave while Paintedfeather got the herbs she needed. At the mention of rolling in the plants he stuck his tongue out mockingly, "I don't think I'd ever roll in herbs.....that would be like torture for me," he said jokingly. At her comment about him coming along he smiled back, not his typical suave grin, but a genuine smile, "No prob, it was nice to get out of camp and run a little bit. And who knows, maybe if I smell them long enough I'll be able to tolerate herbs somewhat."
“I’d hope so, if you don’t get used to it then that’d mean you’d never be able to stand my scent.” She said cheerfully as she started to slowly pad back to the camp, turning her head she motioned with her tail for Sharkheart to follow, “So, tell me about yourself, we’ve never really talked and I’m curious to know your story.” She said as she turned her attention back to the direction she was walking, being careful not to stumble over her tail.
Paintedfeather frowned, "Why do you say that? Not many people know me well enough to say that everyone 'likes me' I bet most people just respect me, being a medicine cat and all…" she said shrugging. Padding alongside him she thought about his words, she didn't know people liked her, she had always thought she was the quiet one in the clan that just lingers around.
Chuckling Sharkheart slowly followed the medicine cat, "Nah, you don't smell as bad as the herbs do," he said truthfully, though he added a hint of humor in just for the fun of it. "Oh...my story...there's not really much to it....I was born in AspenClan and I've always lived here. Leaving has never crossed my mind and if it did...well I wouldn't pay any attention to it. This is my home and it's where I'm staying...you know?" Shrugging his shoulders he added, "Like I said, not much of a story...."
“It’s a nice story though,” she purred as she padded along, “My father was a clan cat and my mother was a kitty pet when she was asked to join the clans she declined and left my father to raise me, it’s upsetting really, does a mother really not love her kit enough to stay with her?” she questioned before shrugging, in the end it didn’t matter, she turned out perfectly fine… right?
Sharkheart tilted his head as he listened to her story. "That's sad...I'm sorry you had to go through that....I can't imagine growing up without a mom....or a dad for that matter." His tail flicked back and forth and he gave her an encouraging smile. "I couldn't imagine why your mom wouldn't have wanted to be with you. You're a nice cat and all of the clan likes you....I can't say the same for myself..."
Paintedfeather frowned, "Why do you say that? Not many people know me well enough to say that everyone 'likes me' I bet most people just respect me, being a medicine cat and all..." she said shrugging. Padding alongside him she thought about his words, she didn't know people liked her, she had always thought she was the quiet one in the clan that just lingers around.
Sharkheart looked at Paintedfeather, "Well...you help cats, and you seem genuinely nice. It seems to me that a lot of cats like those traits....those are just my thoughts though..." he said, not quite sure how to describe his thoughts on the matter, which was an unusual predicament for him. "I guess it's because I've never met a cat that has said bad things about you....maybe about the horrible taste of the herbs, but never a negative comment about how you handled something."
Paintedfeather stopped walking and paused to look at Sharkheart her eyes calm as she gazed upon him, "It may seem no one doesn't like me, but I bet there are at least a few people who can't stand to be around me, maybe because I'm too kind, not kind enough, etc, don't let the thought of people no liking you drag you down." She said with a friendly smile, before she started walking again her pawsteps slow as they walked back towards camp.
Frowning Sharkheart shrugged, "There are always cats that don't like you....but it doesn’t matter what they think...honestly I'm perfectly fine with who likes me and who doesn't, but that's just me, you know?" he said, letting himself relax some before adding, "And I bet there are more cats that don't like me, than those that don't like you."
Paintedfeather lightly nudged his shoulder, "No need to say that, you're a perfectly like able guy." She said, "Plus I don't know a single she cat who doesn't like flirting." looking up at the cloudy sky she smiled slightly it was a beautiful day that was coming to a close. Watching the snowflakes fall slowly from the sky she sighed, "I love winter, if only it wasn't so cold."
"True, but I don't think the toms like it when I flirt with all the girls, more competition you know," Sharkheart said chuckling before adding, "And when it comes to girl competition, I almost always win." He winked teasingly. "Ha, winter is ok, it's not my favorite season, but I do have to agree with you on the cold part of it....even though I have a semi-thick coat I can still get cold easily during the winter."
Paintedfeather smirked, he was very confident in his self, which was good of course. "True, true, but that doesn't make them hate you, it's like that with she-cats, it's a competition that anyone looking for a mate has." She replied her words gentle as she smiled at him.
Sharkheart shrugged, "True enough.....I guess you've learned that by observing, seeing as you aren't in the same category as most cats....no offense I'm just reaffirming what you already stated." He said, not quite sure why he had said that, but it fit so he didn't worry about it. "Though I make it where the other toms don't have much of a chance, unless they come on my side, then I'll help them find a cat that suits them just right. I think it's a gift I got....i can almost always match up the prefect cats for each other," he said smirking a bit.
Paintedfeather frowned, he was right, she wasn't in the same category as most she-cats she wasn't available or able to have a mate, it was upsetting because she yearned for that sort of bond or connection with another. Digging her claws into the snow she tried to shake away the feelings, "That's a unique gift." She replied softly with a friendly smile.
Sharkheart tilted his head and looked at her, "I'm not always the best judge of character or emotions, but I have a feeling you aren't quite as ok with being alone as you say.....that's just a guess, but knowing other cats with some of your same traits.....well it's just a guess....and it is a gift and a curse at the same time....because most of the time the cats that should get together don't....or can't... you know?"
Paintedfeather shrugged, "Yes and no, I can live with it, I will always put my clan before myself, but at times I wish I could be like everyone else, and not treated differently, I don't have the closeness warriors do, I instead sleep alone in my own den, it's upsetting and lonely, but I deal with it." She said with a gentle smile, she hated ranting to others, it made her feel bad.
"Ah, I see...." Sharkheart said a thoughtful frown on his face, "Well maybe if you get an apprentice then it won't be so lonely? And you can always ask me for some company, if you are fine with hanging out with a flirting machine that it," he said adding the last part in just for kicks. "No cat should be secluded just to themselves, that would be a crime. And medicine cats are allowed to have friends right? So maybe you can make some friends to keep you company as well."
The she-cat thought about his words and sighed, "It is a sad but true part about my position, I technically am secluded from the rest, and I'd hate to pass this responsibility on to an apprentice, if only they knew what it was like to have someone life resting on their shoulders." she let out a sigh, "But this isn't about me, it's about the clan, and that's why I've accepted this position it's for the good of the clan."
Sharkheart tilted his head for a second, "But didn't you want to be a medicine cat when you were younger? I mean surely you had a choice and if you didn't like herbs or the commitment you have to make...then you could have just become a warrior, right?" he asked keeping his head tilted as he waited for a reply. Sure he didn't understand herbs, but he did know that a cat had a choice to become a medicine cat.
"I could never be a warrior, my tail." She motioned to the long tail that trailed behind her, "It was either become a medicine cat or an elder." She replied with a friendly smile, "but I'm happy, I may not be able to have a real love but I'm happy with my life and the friends I have." The she-cat said softly.
"Oh.....what happened?" Sharkheart asked trying to figure out what was wrong with her thick furred tail. "I may be a warrior, but I don't think I ever heard the story.....but if you don't want to talk about it....I don't want to pressure you or anything...." he said acting quite unlike himself around the medicine cat, maybe because he didn't quite know how to act around someone who, no matter how much he flirted with, the answer would always be no.
The she-cat paused, "I was just born this way, it's unnaturally long, almost the same size as me, as before it gets in the way of things." She smiled lightly though, "I don't mind though, I've figured out a way to twine feathers into it, that's how I got my name, Paintedfeather." she said as she breathed out a puff of chilled air.
Sharkheart frowned a bit but nodded, "I see, well I'm glad you aren't an elder, that would be a huge waste of talent, plus then you couldn't go out of camp as much and that would be boring!" He said, adding the last part in just for kicks as he grinned at the medicine cat, glad she didn't seem bothered by her tail as much now.
The she-cat smiled, "Well I must head off now, maybe we can talk again sometime?" She said with a gentle nod before padding into the camp to continue with her duties.
