Brief Description Of Appearance: Jasiri is a normal sized cheetah, not really bigger than others, but he is stockier, which aids in his fighting abilities. Because his is bigger in that way, he isn't as fast as other cheetahs and is usually at the back of the pack if a race is going on. His hair is spiky, the worst parts are on his head and tail tip, where slumps of fur stick out awkwardly. Blue eyes reflect the color of the sky at night and can sometimes seem to see right through you if Jasiri is concentrating. Sharp claws aid in climbing, but the dark cheetah doesn't like to climb very much, seeing as he isn't the biggest fan of heights, but he will climb trees on occasion.

Accessories

Lion tooth Necklace: While out exploring as a tyro, Jasiri stumbled upon a lion tooth. He liked the look of it and fashioned a necklace out of dried weeds showing it off to all of his tribe, claiming he killed a lion. Now-a-days Jasiri doesn't really talk about the necklace, part of him wanted to get rid of it, but he doesn't, it reminds him never to go back to who he was....and never to forget who you were, even if is it painful or embarrassing.

Personality
[Loyal] [Stubborn] [Smart/Wise] [Easily Angered] [Trustworthy] [Strong] [Occasionally slips back into his old attitude]

[Loyal]

Jasiri will always stick with his tribe, no matter what happens. He cares about them more than he ever though he could, they are like his family and he would do anything to protect them. Even if a tribe-mate gets on his nerves, he will do his best to get along with them, though he can't always keep a lid on it, but trying is food right? If you manage to befriend him, Jasiri will stick by you wand stand up for you, and if you are really close he maybe even sacrifice himself for you, which is really big.

[Stubborn]
The grey tom isn't one to back down quickly, if he wants to do something, or thinks something is right he will not change his mind, ever. This can be quite annoying for someone trying to convince him to do or believe something, because if someone is determined to make him change his mind then he is even more determined not to. So in short, don't try to convince Jasiri he is in the wrong, if you really want to change his mind causally bring the topic up and use lots of facts and common sense to back you up. And even then he might not back down, he is quite firm in his beliefs after all.

[Smart/Wise]
Smarts were always something Jasiri was good at, he could think through problems and come up with pretty decent solutions. In the past he would use these facts to be a know it all and an overall pain, but now he uses to to help others. Through his experiences he has learned how to cope and has grown in the pain, but as much as he has learned, he wouldn't want anyone else to go through the same thing so he does what he can to make sure that doesn't happen. And he still has a lot to learn so don't think that you can go to him with any question and expect a brilliant answer, he will say what he knows, that's it.

[Easily Angered]
As much as he has tried to tone it down, Jasiri still has a angry side that could scare a cub for weeks. For the most part he keeps his anger to himself and pushes it away as best as he can, but there are a few exceptions. For example, if some cheetah keep bugging him or starts acting like a jerk it won't take long for Jasiri to loose his cool. At first he will just give a few sharp warning, but if the cheetah continues to irk him them the grey tom will start raising his voice and may eventually start yelling. He does his best to keep his claws away from others, especially from his tribemates, but if someone from a rival tribe starts getting on his nerves...well it may be easier for him to give a scratch or two.

[Trustworthy]
If Jasiri trusts you then you can trust him, he never wants to loose the respect and trust of others and thus will keep secrets and do his best to stay on your good side. He tries not to lie, knowing that lies destroy friendships, but occasionally he may lie, just out of old habit. But he will try his best, and in all honesty he's not a bad cheetah to trust, even if he does have flaws. After all who doesn't have their problems and mistakes? You need a good friend to stand by you and Jasiri would try his best to be just that.

[Strong]
On the outside Jasiri is definitely strong, at least when he is well nourished, and even when he isn't he certainly isn't wimpy. But that is only part of his strength. The tom has gone through a lot, and although there may be a few times where he gets sad about he past, he is actually pretty strong emotionally. If something hard happens he usually puts on a brave face and tires to look on the bright side of things, hoping to life up others as he does so. There are a few exceptions to this though, like if someone close to him dies, then it is a different story. Depending on how close he is to the cheetah he may just curl up for a day or two and not talk much, or he might run off and cry, wanting to be alone for quite a while. And if that happens then it may take a few weeks for him to get back to a some-what normal routine.

[Occasionally slips back into his old attitude]
Although Jasiri has changed quite a bit from when he was a young tyro, the tom still has his 'bad moments' as he calls them now. This jerky side of his only comes out if a very annoying cheetah gets on his nerves and starts insulting him like crazy, or if he starts getting into a contest. Thankfully there aren't too many cheetahs that can bring out this side of him, he's only met a few that would have the potential of bringing it back out (ahem....Kiburi...don't you dare....), and even then he would try not to lose control, but he can't promise anything. Competitions bring out the 'I want to be the best' side in Jasiri, and this can lead to him getting more self-centered and narcissistic, which he loves while he is in this mood but hates when he isn't. This tenancy will probably never go away completely, but Jasiri will continue to try to tone it down, he doesn't want to be remembered as the annoying cheetah that no one liked.....which he kind of was when he was younger.

History

Before Birth
This is a WIP until after Jasiri's sibling is chosen.

Pride of the Family

When Jasiri was born he was the pride of his parents, they showered him with love. He felt awkward around the other cubs so he usually just hung out with his parents, thus making the bond between the three of them even closer. He was especially close with his mom who had the same grey coat as him. The two loved to hang out and laugh together. Akili loved to hang out with them as well, but it was harder for him due to the fact that he needed to keep up his tribe duties. And thus Jasiri's bond with his mom grew closer and slowly he started enjoying hanging out with his dad as well. One of the little family's favorite traditions was to go out at night, when the moon was high and stargaze. They had a special spot on a cliff, over looking the ocean. The water reflected the stars, making it look even more beautiful than it already was. There night were some of the best of Jasiri's life, they were always calm and peaceful; full of love and happiness, nothing could replace that feeling. The feeling of being loved, of being with your family and knowing that you are never truly alone.

Nothing Can Last Forever

One day the small family was on their way back from stargazing at the cliff when a lion attacked. Wanting easy prey it went for Jasiri first, after all he was the smallest of the three being only five moons old. Aina, being the loving mother she was threw herself at the lion, pushing him away from her son. This only provoked the lion even more and with one blow she was down on the ground. There was no blood around, but the beautiful cheetah wasn't moving. This infuriated Akili and he charged the lion keeping it occupied long enough for a patrol to head them, but by then he was in pretty bad shape. The group of cheetah's drove the lion away, but didn't manage to kill it.
The young Jasiri was in shock, staring at his bloody father and the still form of his mother, a soft spoken she-cheetah lead him home, telling him to stay in the nursery until his mom could check up on him. But Jasiri didn't trust the cheetah, he only trusted his parents. And so he sneaked outside of the den just in time to see two cheetah's dragging his mother's life-less body into camp. With a yowl of fear and confusion Jasiri raced towards his mother, calling out to her, trying to wake her up, but before he could reach her, his worn out father stopped him. Akili tried to explain what had happened, but he barely could through tears of his own. The two sat vigil for Aina that night, words were not spoken, but many a tear were shed for the sweet cheetah.
The next morning Akili was moved to the healers den to heal from his wounds and Jasiri was forced back into the nursery under the care of another queen. But the cub didn't want to be around anyone else, he raced off to the healer's den and stayed with his dad. This was good for the cub, his dad helped calm him down and eventually convinced him to go back to the nursery, saying he would get a better night sleep there, but in truth Akili knew he was fading fast. His outside wounds weren't healing, it was obvious something was wrong internally, but the healer didn't know how to heal it, and it was only a matter of time before the injuries too their toll.

The Winds of Change

After his father passed away Jasiri tried to shut the world out, he didn't want anyone else around him, no one could replace his parents. But the queens felt sorry for him and hated seeing any cub so sad, so they tried to help any way they could. Complimenting him, saying how strong he was and encouraging him. Jasiri would have nothing of it, he didn't care about anything, not even becoming a tyro, nothing could lift him out of his slump. This went on for a month until he was made a sentry tyro, something he chose so that he would be able to protect others...so that he wouldn't loose anyone close to him again. As he started training, Jasiri noticed how strange it was not to have the queens complimenting him and giving him attention, as much as he had hated it at first he had gotten used to it and now....he missed it.
So Jasiri started doing things to get attention and appreciation. At first it was fine, just doing good deeds and helping others out, but that wasn't enough, he needed more. Slowly he started becoming more arrogant, craving attention and snapping at cats when they didn't give it to him. This may sound mean, but in truth attention seemed to be the only thing that helped Jasiri keep his mind off of his problems, and so he continued it, becoming more annoying and arrogant by the day until he was the nuisance of the tribe.

In the Wake of Sickness

This arrogant personality continued, it seemed as if nothing could change the young tyro, he was out of control, a real pain to any cat who came in contact with him, besides a few who somehow managed to unlock his better side. But even then they could't get very far with Jasiri, he wasn't going to change for anyone! Then the sickness struck. Cheetahs fell ill all over with a strange sickness, killing quite a few members of the tribe. At first Jasiri didn't care, sickness wasn't anything to be worried about, but then he caught the strange disease. It wasn't bad in the beginning, but slowly it got worse and worse, until a horrible fever engulfed his body. He was coughing out blood and felt horrible all the time, sleep brought the only relief, but it was hard to come by with all the coughing.
Jasiri didn't know if he would make it, for the first time in a long time he was scared. He didn't want to die, not like this....and not with the only memory of him as being a jerk to everyone he knew. That was no life, he realized that and promised himself that if he made it through he would change; he would become a cheetah his parents would be proud of. Miraculously the grey cheetah pulled through, though his voice suffered becoming deeper and scratchier than normal, and even though it healed eventually it still sounds a little different to this day. Keeping true to his promise Jasiri started trying to change, to be nicer and kinder. It was slow going at first, but he kept trying and continued trying, even though the hard times., after all, he had learned to grow strong through all things and not let the bad things win.

Full Time
Due to the sickness Jasiri was behind in his training, he was almost one and a half cycles and was still a tyro, but he continued to train hard and work on his attitude, and remarkably the differences in his attitude started to show more and more, they were becoming genuine, not just him trying to act that way. But as things in Jasiri's personality were getting better, the situation around the island was getting worse. Finding prey was harder and harder and the lack of rain made the summer even worse than before.
Then a lightning storm struck the land and one of the bolts hit the dry grass causing a fire to start, and it was heading right for the Sunning Rocks camp! The young tom showed his true colors as he stayed in the fire, returning to the flames after making sure others were safe. The old Jasiri would have never done this, but that old cheetah was almost completely gone, only a few shadows of his stayed. Pushing aside his own comfort the grey cheetah stayed in the fire much longer than most others, wanting to make sure everyone was safe before he himself got to safety.
Kafil, the chief saw what Jasiri did in the fire and once the tribe had been safely evacuated made the tom a full sentry. This brought an unexpected joy to Jasiri's life, and he was even more determined to do his best for the tribe, nothing was going to hurt them, not a fire, not anything.

Jasiri continues to serve his tribe, and more will be added after the journey to the new land.

When I lost her....it was like I lost a part of myself, I really wish she was still here, but I know she's watching over me...and she always will be."

:bulletblue:/:bulletpink::bulletpink:/:bulletpurple:/:bulletpurple::bulletpurple: Akili: "I was never as close with my dad as my mom, but I still loved him....and I miss him a lot too. He always wanted the best for me....I hope he is happy with who I've become.

:bulletorange::bulletorange: Ajali: "Well, we were on a patrol and she kind of asked me to be her brother. I wasn't really comfortable with it at first, but as we talked a little more I really started connecting with her. And then that hyena attacked...if I ever see that thing again I'll give him so many scratches.....Anyway, I really feel protective of her now, she's one of my first real friends. "

:bulletwhite: Walio: "He was an ok mentor, but I'm not sure...he seems too nice at times....I mean, that's ok but still....something is off about him..."

:bulletpurple::bulletpurple: Kokoto: "I never really respected Kokoto until we went on a walk together and ended up saving a cub from the Deep Cut. Even though she got scared at times she kept her cool and saved the cub's life....and helped my burned paws..."

:bulletgreen:/:bulletwhite:/:bulletwhite::bulletwhite: Mchanga "I helped him collect some herbs once....he was ok, but he didn't seem to respect my job as a sentry, so I'm really not to fond of the guy...."

:bulletpurple:/:bulletpurple::bulletpurple:/:bulletyellow: Kafil "We got to talking some after the fire...he's a really mellow guy...though I think he blames himself for too many things. I mean no one can protect everyone, but he did say some very....deep things and I respect him for what he does. And although I still feel like there are some things he isn't telling me I know I can trust him."

Crooked Tree:

:bulletyellow::bulletyellow:/:bulletpink: Maisha: "I met Maisha on the Crooked Tree border, and let me tell you, I was not my normal self around her. Something about her eyes, her voice....I don't know, I just wasn't as big of a jerk as I normally was. After the fire, while we were waiting for it to diminish I told her some personal things I never told anyone before....I trusted her for some reason, even though she was from another tribe. Secretly, I kind of have a crush on her, but I only got to talk with her for a little bit, if only we were in the same tribe....then maybe we could get to know each other even more."

Crowded Water

:bulletgreen:/:bulletwhite::bulletwhite: Akila: "I met her on the border one day and.....it was strange seeing another black/grey cheetah, I didn't really know what to think....it was kind of awkward...Anyways, a small lion attacked and we both chased it away. I'm still not sure what to think of her...I just wish I hadn't of been so rude..."

:bulletred:/:bulletwhite: Kiburi: "This cheetah.....he is soo annoying! He thinks he knows everything and thinks he's the best cheetah ever. Well I have news for him, he's not! And I told him that, but of course he won't listen. I can't believe I told him about Maisha, how could I have been so stupid! His advice wasn't really that great either..... I hope I never see Mr. Annoying Face again.... unless it's to prove he isn't the greatest cheetah ever..."

Roleplay Example:
The bright white sun shone down on the dry land, the grass-if you could even call it that-was brittle and yellow, no water was left in the plants. Cracks covered any dry spot of ground due to the lack of rain and water in the land. Any animal that was awake was hiding in the shade, keeping away from the sun to avoid dehydration. Any water that was left on the island was polluted with salt and wasn’t fit to drink; something needed to happen, and soon. A cracking sounded as a dark shape made its way through one of the unburned section of Sunning Rocks territory. His intense blue eyes were focused on the ground, it was hard to stay focused on anything, his throat was dry and his stomach was empty.
As he padded forward a familiar scent washed through the stiff breeze, lifting his head slowly Jasiri spotted the Crooked Tree border. It didn't look much better than his own territory, but it did look better, considering the fire hadn't spread to the other tribe’s territory. But as much as the sight had changed it still awoke memories in the tom’s mind. Good memories, of the days when rain wasn't some rare occurrence and tribe hostilities weren't nearly as bad. Those weren't the best parts though. A smile played at his mouth as he remembered seeing her for the first time, Maisha. He has made a fool of himself, trying to act all tough and angry when he was really just bewildered by her beauty. A sigh escaped his mouth, he hadn't seen the pretty she-cheetah in quite a while…well that wasn't true, he had seen her at the Moon Meeting but he hadn't gotten to talk to her. ‘I wish I could see her again…I need to tell her how I feel….even if it scared me….she needs to know the truth,’ the almost black cheetah thought to himself as he sat down, giving his weak legs a break from standing.
